Your Chapter Needs YOU - Openings on the NTEU280 Executive Board

In case you missed it, the following e-mail was sent to all members on June 17, 2013 by our Chapter President.  We have an opening for a Chief Steward and a Vice President.  If you are interested, please respond by no later than Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the close of business (COB).

Dear Members,

We currently have two vacancies on the NTEU 280 Executive Board that we are seeking to fill. The first is a Vice President at Large position and the second is that of the Chief Steward, which is a full time position. We are accepting applications from members interested in filling these vacancies. If you are interested, please send me an e-mail expressing your interest and providing background information. If you prefer, you may provide a resume and a cover letter. Please respond no later than COB Wednesday June 26 if you are interested in being considered for these vacancies.

UPDATED:  NTEU280's Executive Board is happy to report that we have appointed members to fill both vacancies.  The new Chief Steward is Sean Carter and the new Vice President is Joe Edgell.  Thank you to all who expressed interest in, and applied for, these positions! 

NTEU280 at the Walk to Wellness 2013



NTEU280 had a booth a the 2013 HQ Walk to Wellness event held by the agencies at Federal Traingle, including EPA, USAID, and CBP.  Members and visitors who stopped by the NTEU280 table were treated to healthy snacks, including fruit and nut bars and organic apples.  It was a perfect day for a walk around the Ellipse. 

The Walk to Wellness was originally slated for May, but was rescheduled (due to a scheduled, outside protest in the vicinity of Federal Triangle) to June.  Despite the rescheduling of the event, participation was high.  The Surgeon General attended.  A good, and healthy time, was had by all. 

NTEU National President Kelley Addresses Contractor Pay and Sequestration through FY14

NTEU National President Colleen Kelley has written to members of House Rules Committee regarding two proposed amendments to defense legislation. These two amendments are of  interest to Federal employees.  The first would cap at the level of the vice president’s pay the salary that government contractors can be reimbursed by taxpayers. The second amendment would bring an end to sequestration through fiscal 2014.
